Formation of hydrogen peroxide in the ozonolysis of isoprene and simple alkenes under humid conditions. These phenomena can be explained in terms of the known chemistry of ozonolysis, as shown in figure 1. However, because ozonolysis by-products have not been characterized regarding their structure and toxicity, the reliability of even a very efficient method such as ozonation during cyanobacterial bloom events should be treated with caution. |
