PC 98(1) The third PC 9x specification, which defined five categories (Consumer, Office, Mobile, Entertainment and Workstation). It eliminated the ISA bus and pushed the minimum requirements to a 200 MHz CPU with 32MB of RAM and 256K of L2 cache. PC 98 machines had to support OnNow, and the BIOS had to support booting from a CD-ROM and be Y2K compliant. Systems could not ship with ISA cards installed, but could have an ISA bus for legacy devices. See PC 9x. How to thank TFD for its existence?
