Palana 

an urban-type settlement and administrative center of the Koriak National Okrug, Kamchatka Oblast, RSFSR. Situated on the western coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula, on the right bank of the Palana River, 8 km from the river’s influx into the Sea of Okhotsk. Population, 3,300 (1974). Palana has the fuel and food-processing industries and a museum of local lore.

The seashore village of Palana West in Sri Lanka, which was almost destroyed by the tsunami that rocked the South Pacific in 2005, is up and running again.
On Boxing Day 2004, the village of Palana West was hit by the tsunami and many buildings were destroyed.
That is why I support the work the students and staff of Durham University are doing in Palana West.
