an ancient Paleolithic site (Acheulean culture), located 10 km southwest of the city of Madras, India. As a result of the discovery of Palavaram in 1863, the British archaeologist R. Bruce Foote established the existence of the Paleolithic in India. Coups de poing made of quartzite were found at the site.
