Paleocene Series (Epoch)
the lowest series (epoch) of the Paleogene system (period). The Paleocene is divided into lower and upper stages. In the USSR the two stages are the Inkerman (lower) and Kacha (upper), which correspond to the Montian and Thanetian stages in Western Europe. The name was proposed in 1874 by the German paleobotanist P. W. SCHIMPER. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
