Panachage
(from French panacher, “to mix one with another”), in bourgeois electoral law, the transfer by voters of candidates from several party lists onto one list of the voter’s choice, that is, actually voting for candidates from different parties. It is employed under the system of proportional representation. Panachage gives parties the opportunity to form blocs. It is permitted in elections to various representative bodies in Austria, Norway, Liechtenstein, France, Switzerland, and a number of other countries. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
