a Georgian stringed instrument whose sound is produced by plucking with the fingers. It has a wooden body and three strings. The panduri is tuned at intervals of seconds and thirds and of thirds and seconds. It has an octave range, and its length is approximately 750 mm. Modified orchestral versions of the panduri are used, among them soprano, alto, and tenor. [19—417–6]
