In 1930, Maurice joined the Hudson Bay Company and became an apprentice clerk at the Pangnirtung Post on Baffin Island in the Canadian Arctic. A graduate of the Arthur Turner Training School, Pangnirtung, in 1975, he was ordained a deacon in 1975 and a priest in 1976. As a young adult, Bishop Atagotaaluk worked as a diver for the federal Department of Renewable Resources and was a boat inspector for Transport Canada before attending the Theological Training Centre in Pangnirtung. |
