The foursome was arrested when police busted six men and one woman on June 25 in Katidata village after 33 Papaver somniferum plants measuring 35 to 70 centimetres tall planted in a fenced garden in the house's backyard.
The Flower of Forgetfulness, it is the plant that is grown in some countries to make opium; it's botanical name, Papaver somniferum, alludes to it as a bringer of sleep.
Richard Pryce, a Carmarthenshire county recorder and keen botanist, identified the poppies as the papaver somniferum variety, restricted in some countries due to their link to the drugs trade.
