Parallel programming libraries and compiler enhancements, such as MPI and OpenMP, and distributed debugging and monitoring tools support the development of parallel computing applications that are able to effectively leverage these cluster computer architectures.
Work is in progress, for example, to see what uncertainties can be obtained for atomic lithium, which is estimated to require a 6000-fold increase in CPU requirements to reach the same level of precision, making the use of parallel programming techniques even more critical.
TotalView is the only multiprocess, multithread application debugger/analyzer that supports Fortran, C and C++ languages along with the major parallel programming paradigms including MPI, threads, and OpenMP.
