Paranaíba

a river in Brazil, a right source of the Paraná. About 900 km long, the Paranaíba rises in the northern spurs of the Serra da Canastra and flows through the central part of the Brazilian Highlands through a deep valley, forming rapids and waterfalls. Its numerous tributaries provide it with an abundance of water. Turbulent freshets occur in the summer. The mean flow rate at the city of Itumbiara is 1,505 cu m per sec.
