Pardue, Mary Lou (1933– ) cell biologist; born in Lexington, Ky. She joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1972), and concurrently taught molecular biology at several other institutions. She made major advances in studies of chromosome structure and function, gene activity during development, and stress responses in insect muscle cells.
