Parecis, Serra dos
the northwestern edge of the Brazilian Highlands. The range has elevations of 450–600 m and is composed primarily of sandstones. Vast tablelands fall steeply to the southwest—to the crystalline foundation of the plateau along the right bank of the Guaporé River and to the Cuiabá plateau. Shrub savanna grows in the mountains; on the slopes there are rain forests with fluctuating rates of precipitation. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
