Park, Roswell (1852–1914) surgeon, pathologist, author; born in Pomfret, Conn. At the University of Buffalo School of Medicine (1883–1914), he became chief surgeon for Buffalo General Hospital. A great surgeon, he promulgated important advances in bacteriology and pathology such as Lister's antiseptic technique. He researched malignant tumors and wrote widely on both the practice and history of medicine; his works include The Principles and Practice of Modern Surgery (1907) and The Evil Eye, Thanatology and Other Essays (1912).
