Name Origin: For Martin Parmer (1778-1850), Republic of TX legislator, signer of the TX Declaration of Independence (1836), and chief justice of Jasper County (1839-40). Area (sq mi): 885.17 (land 881.66; water 3.51). Pop per sq mi: 11.10. Pop 2005: 9,754. State rank: 167. Pop change: 2000-20005 -2.60%; 1990-2000 1.60%.
