particle size [′pärd·ə·kəl ‚sīz]
(geology)
The general dimensions of the particles or mineral grains in a rock or sediment based on the premise that the particles are spheres; commonly measured by sieving, by calculating setting velocities, or by determining areas of microscopic images.
(metallurgy)
The average and controlling lineal dimension of an individual particle of metal powder as determined by suitable screens or other methods of analysis.

particle size
1. In evaluating the efficiency of a filter for removing particles from an air stream, the minimum particle diameter in microns that will be removed by the filter.
2. In paints, the diameter of a pigment or latex particle; usually expressed in mils or microns.

The design of the Q-03 allows for a high circulation pumping rate, which results in narrow particle size distribution and good temperature control.
Particle size reduction using high-pressure technology is key to producing healthier fries, tastier chicken and more resilient frozen food, says John Puryear, Northwest Regional Account Manager for Microfluidics.
Why Pod Grinding is Critical Referring back to our pod challenges, a 20-second brow cycle requires a particle size accuracy far greater than that required on a four-minute cycle (such as a bottle brewer) due to the rate of extraction.
