Parusnikov, Mikhail Pavlovich 

Born Oct. 30 (Nov. 11), 1893, in Moscow; died there Feb. 1, 1968. Soviet architect. Member of the Academy of Sciences of the Byelorussian SSR (1950).

Parusnikov attended the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture. From 1913 to 1924 he studied under S. V. Noakovskii and I. V. Zholtovskii at Vkhutemas (State Higher Arts and Technical Studios). He taught at the Moscow Institute of Architecture from 1934 to 1941 and again from 1948. He was appointed a professor at the institute in 1949.

Parusnikov designed the auditorium and the pavilion of machine building at the All-Russian Agricultural and Domestic-Industries Exhibition in 1923. His works in Moscow include an apartment house (1936) on Mir Prospect. In Minsk he designed an administrative building (1946–47), the State Bank (1950), and the Lenin Avenue ensemble (with others; late 1940 to the 1960’s; State Prize of the Byelorussian SSR, 1968).

Parusnikov was awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, and various medals.
