Passar, Andrei Aleksandrovich
Born Mar. 25, 1925, in the nomad encampment of Mukha, now in Nanai Raion, Khabarovsk Krai. Soviet Nanai poet. Member of the CPSU since 1956. Passar began publishing in 1949. His first book of verse was Sunlight (1952). In 1960 he graduated from the Advanced Courses in Literature of the Writers’ Union of the USSR. Passar is an expert on the language, folklore, and customs of his native land. Now living on the island of Sakhalin, he celebrates in verse the new life of the Nanai people.
