| The Astanga yoga path has at its base the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the guiding principles on the path of yoga, or Union. Yoga is one of the six orthodox Indian philosophies that are collated by Patanjali in his "Yoga Sutra. She was very pleased when he mentioned having studied a variety of ancient texts sacred to Hinduism such as the Bhagavad Gita (Prabhavanda & Isherwood, 1951), the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (Aranya, 1983), and various books on the philosophy of Vedanta (for example, Gupta, 1998). |
