patchouli or patchouly (both: păch` lē, pəch `lē), fragrant shrubby East Indian plant (Pogostemon cablin or P. patchouli) of the family Labiatae (mint mint, in botany, common name for members of the Labiatae, a large family of chiefly annual or perennial herbs.
