Special Features: Located in the heart of California's coast redwood country, the park features a reconstructed Yurok Indian Village and a native plant garden, as well as Agate Beach, where visitors can hunt for semi-precious stones at low tide. A dramatic shoreline ranging from broad sandy beaches to sheer cliffs that rise high above the Pacific Ocean offers great opportunities to explore tide pools, search for agates and driftwood, or watch whales and sea lions.

We're camped for a week at Patrick's Point State Park north of Eureka, about 300 miles from San Francisco.
OTHER ATTRACTIONS: Patrick's Point State Park just north of town has an excellent blufftop trail and a driftwood-filled beach.
