Areas of interest include: the Uppgaard Wildlife Management Area, which includes 14 different habitats that draw in non-game wildlife for visitors to enjoy; the Paul Bunyan State Trail, connecting several of the local townships along the path of the old railway for bikers, hikers, and cross-country skiers; the Historic Fire Tower, offering visitors sweeping views of the surrounding forests; and the Crosslake Historical Society Museum and Historic Log Village, showcasing the life of the early settlers. Legth: 54 miles. Start/Endpoint: The byway is a double loop drive located about 150 miles north of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area. Bounded on the west by US 371, it includes portions of Highways 1, 3, 11, 15, and 16. Time to Allow: 1.5 hours. Designation/Year: National Scenic Byway (2005). See other parks in Minnesota.
