Müller, Paul Hermann
Born Jan. 12, 1899, in Olten; died Oct. 12, 1965, in Basel. Swiss chemist. Müller graduated from the University of Basel. In 1925 he began performing research at the experimental laboratory of the J. R. Geigy firm in Basel; in 1946 he became the assistant director of the laboratory. Müller’s principal works were devoted to the use of chemical means for plant protection. In 1939 he discovered the insecticidal properties of 4,4’ − dichlorodiphenyltrichlo-romethylmethane (DDT). Müller received a Nobel Prize in 1948. REFERENCEVashkov, V. I., L. N. Pogodina, and N. A.
