Pavlushkov, Sergei Nikolaevich 

Born 1864; died Feb. 13, 1942, in Moscow. An organizer of Soviet veterinary science. Doctor of veterinary sciences (1935).

Pavlushkov graduated from the Kazan Veterinary Institute in 1888. Between 1911 and 1917 he headed the veterinary bacteriological laboratory of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and from 1917 to 1921, after it became the Institute of Experimental Veterinary Science, he was the institute’s first director. Pavlush-kov’s chief works dealt with epizootiology, veterinary statistics, the establishment of veterinary services, the reform of veterinary education, and the history of veterinary science. He translated and edited basic veterinary manuals of the Hungarian scientists F. Hutyra and J. Marek.
