Pentium Processor Extreme Edition

Also found in: Acronyms 0.01 sec.

Pentium Processor Extreme Edition

Intel's first dual core 64-bit (Intel 64) Pentium CPU with Hyper-Threading. The first model, the Extreme Edition 840, was introduced in 2005 with a clock rate of 3.2 GHz. It is the same as the Pentium D with the inclusion of Intel's Hyper-Threading technology, which, combined, provides a total of four processing streams. The Hyper-Threading provides a varying degree of overlap for two streams, which is based on the applications being run, but the dual cores provide 100% overlap between each other. See dual core. See also Pentium 4 Processor Extreme Edition.
