Peresvet, Aleksandr
Died 1380. Hero of the battle of Kulikovo. Peresvet was a boyar of Briansk (or Liubech, according to another version), who became a monk of the St. Sergius Trinity Monastery. He opened the battle of Kulikovo on Sept. 8, 1380, by calling out the Tatar bogatyr Temir-Murza (Chelubei) to a duel. According to the account of the chronicle, they came together with such force that they were both killed on the spot. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
