PCE

(Path Computation Element) An application that computes a network path in a large network. Similar in purpose to the software-defined networking OpenFlow protocol, PCE was proposed in the 2006-2009 time frame by AT&T and Cisco, among others, but did not gain the traction of OpenFlow. See OpenFlow and software-defined networking.
