Perthshire

Perthshire or Perth, former county, central Scotland. Under the Local Government Act of 1973, Perthshire was divided between the Tayside and Central regions. In the local government reorganization of 1996, those regions were dissolved and the council area of Perth and Kinross, formed in large part from the former territory of Perthshire that had been incorporated in Tayside, was created.
