a city (settlement until 1965) and administrative center of Pestovo Raion, Novgorod Oblast, RSFSR, on the Mologa River (Volga Basin). Railroad station; population, 16,000 (1974). Pestovo has a lumber combine, furniture and garment factories, a flax-processing plant, and a creamery.
