Petr Abramovich Tellalov

Tellalov, Petr Abramovich 

Born 1853; died Dec. 12 (24), 1883. Russian revolutionary and Narodnik (Populist).

Born into a petit bourgeois family, Tellalov studied at the St. Petersburg Institute of Mines from 1870 to 1874. He joined the revolutionary movement in 1874. From 1875 to 1879 he was in administrative exile. In the autumn of 1879 he became a member of the executive committee of the People’s Will. He headed first the Kharkov branch of the organization and then, from 1880, the Moscow branch. He conducted propaganda work among students and workers. Tellalov was arrested in December 1881 and in the Trial of the 17 was condemned to death; the sentence was commuted to penal servitude for life. Tellalov died in the Peter and Paul Fortress.
