Petr Zabolotskii

    0.01 sec.
Zabolotskii, Petr Efimovich

Born 1803, in Tikhvin; died Feb. 28 (Mar. 12), 1866. Russian painter.

Zabolotskii studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts from 1826 to 1831, becoming an academician there in 1857. In 1836 and 1837 he gave drawing lessons to M. lu. Lermontov. From 1842 to 1848 he taught at the School of Drawing of the Society for the Promotion of the Arts. Zabolotskii’s unpretentious, truthful portraits, genre paintings, and interior scenes resemble paintings of the Venetsianov school (Portrait of M. lu. Lermontov, 1837, Tret’iakov Gallery; A Room in Tomilov’s House, 1833, Odessa Art Museum).
