Aleksandravičius, Petras Povilas Povilo
Born Oct. 8 (21), 1906, in the village of Vartai, Vilkaviskis district. Soviet sculptor; became People’s Artist of the Lithuanian SSR in 1956. Aleksandravicius studied at the Kaunas art school (1928–33) with Ju. Zikaras and K. Sklerius. He did a series of portraits of cultural figures, including a statue of the writer Ju. Žemaitè, 1950, Tret’iakov Gallery, Moscow, (State Prize of the USSR, 1951), distinguished by their psychological insight and fine modeling. He has taught in the Lithuanian Art Institute at Vilnius since 1940 and has been a professor since 1946. REFERENCEUmbrasas, J. Petras Aleksandravičius. [Vilnius,] 1961.
