Petri, Angelo (1883–1961) vintner; born in Marseilles, France. He emigrated to the U.S.A. in 1895, joining the family cigar business; under his presidency, Marca Petri became America's leading brand of cigar. In 1933 he revived the family wine business, which thrived through innovative marketing and by his retirement (1956) had become United Vintners, the world's largest wine distributor.
