Petrópolis 

a city in southeastern Brazil, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Population, 189,100 (1970); rail station. The city has textile, pulp and paper, food-processing, machine-building, leather footwear, and garment industries. Petrópolis is a center for tourism.
