Born Dec. 22, 1765, in Stuttgart; died Apr. 21, 1828, in Halle. German mathematician. Member of the Berlin Academy of Sciences (1817).

Pfaff was a professor of mathematics at the universities of Helmstedt (1788–1810) and Halle (from 1810). He was the author of studies on differential equations.

Allgemeine Methode partielle Differentialgleichungen zu integrieren (first published 1815). Leipzig, 1902.
