Pharmacy Specialist

(Russian, farmatsevt), a person trained in pharmacy. In the USSR a distinction is made between a specialist with a higher education (a provizor, or qualified pharmacist) and one with a secondary education (a qualified pharmacist’s assistant). Pharmacy specialists work in pharmacies, in galenical-pharmaceutical institutions, and in chemical-pharmaceutical plants. In the USSR they are trained in pharmacy institutes, in pharmacy departments of medical institutes, and in pharmacy technical schools.
