Phase Difference 

the difference between the initial phases of quantities that are varying sinusoidally with the same frequency. Phase difference is measured in degrees, radians, or fractions of a period. The phase difference between voltage and current is of great practical importance in electrical engineering; it determines the power factor in alternating-current circuits.
