| Photomicroscopy of hybridization product was conducted on whole larvae cleared in a solution of 2:1 benzyl benzoate:benzyl alcohol and also on serial sections of methacrylatemounted larvae. However, a detailed examination of biofilms would await the electron microscope, which allowed high-resolution photomicroscopy at much higher magnifications than did the light microscope. Key applications include autoradiography, electrophoresis gel documentation, photomicroscopy, high-sensitivity fluorescence, chemiluminescence and radiographic imaging, as well as general laboratory and field photography. |
