Photosphere-Chromosphere Telescope

    0.01 sec.
Photosphere-Chromosphere Telescope

an astrophysical instrument intended primarily for the systematic observation of the sun according to the solar survey program. It consists of two small telescopes—a photosphere telescope and a chromosphere telescope—installed on the same parallactic mounting. The objectives of the telescopes vary from 10 to 15 cm in diameter. The photosphere-chromosphere telescope is used primarily to obtain simultaneous photographs of the solar photosphere and chromosphere, which are then used to compare rapidly evolving processes at different depths of the sun’s atmosphere and to study the atmosphere’s vertical structure.
