(also, piatachok), popular name for a Russian five-kopeck piece. The piatak was minted in silver from the early 19th century to 1915. Copper coins were minted from 1723 to 1881 and in 1911–12. In the Soviet Union the piatak was minted in copper from 1924, in bronze from 1926, and in brass from 1961.
