(text)pictogram - (Or "pictograph") A symbol which is a picture that represents an object or concept, e.g. a picture of an envelope used to represent an e-mail message.

Pictograms are common in everyday life, e.g. signs in public places or roads, whereas the term "icon" is specific to interfaces on computers or other electronic devices.

In preparing a presentation board, the students should include drawings, sample swatches of textures and colors, photographs, graphs, diagrams, pictograms, and any other pertinent visual materials.
They also can be used to create and send highly decorative Deco-mail(TM) Pictogram messages containing high-resolution icons that come preinstalled in the phones or are available separately via download.
Already implemented at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, the wayfinding system identifies public destinations and the address is supported by pictograms, graphic icons and printed orientation maps.
