Pierrot (pē'ərō`) [Fr.,=little Peter], character in French pantomime. A buffoon, he wore a loose white tunic with big buttons, balloon sleeves, and white pantaloons. His face was painted white. A creation of Giuseppe Giaratone or Geratoni (fl. 1639–97), Pierrot was introduced to early 19th-century France by Deburau Deburau or Debureau, Jean Gaspard , 1796–1846, French pantomime performer, whose original name was Jan Kaspar Dvorjak, b. Bohemia.

Esol course vital for refugees' integration: Pierot Ngadi, who lives in Roath, Cardiff, but is originally from the Congo, said: 'I know many refugees who have done the Esol course and they tell me that it was good because most of them came to Cardiff without any words of English but now they can speak, use a computer and converse with other people.
Once again the director was Rudolf Waltr, who also played the role of Harlequin, with Zdenka Grafova as Coumbine, Antonin Turek as Pierot, Otto Cermak as the Doctor and Marie Walrova as Death.
