Pierre Alphonse Laurent

Laurent, Pierre Alphonse 

Born 1813 in Paris; died there 1854. French mathematician. A military engineer by profession, Laurent in 1843 discovered the well-known theorem for the expansion of a function of a complex variable, which is analytic in a circular ring, in a series now called the Laurent series.
