(1) A point in an area marked by a wooden or metal pin driven into the ground. In leveling these points are used for positioning rods and temporarily marking the leveling line of the area. The profile of the area is drawn according to the elevations of the pikety. In railroad surveying pikety mark the axis of the roadbed. Their positions are fixed more securely on operating railroad lines by means of posts.

(2) A unit of measure used in the USSR for the length of railroad lines; it is equal to 100 m.

(3) A term sometimes applied to buildings used in forest protection service cottages, roadway booths, and other structures.

The European Ambassador to Malaysia Vincent Piket has hoped to start Free Trade Agreement (FTA) talks with Malaysia on the sidelines of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) in early October.
The approval came after an EU inspection team gave the clearance during a visit in March, the European Commission ambassador to Malaysia Vincent Piket said in a statement late Thursday.
Vincent Piket of the European Commission's EuropeAid Co-operation Office noted: "The value of the rapid response and demand-driven nature of ATF is appreciated by all and should remain a bottom-line principle.
