Pilatus (pēlä`ts), mountain, 6,800 ft (2,073 m) high, in the Alps of the Four Forest Cantons, central Switzerland. According to medieval legend, the corpse of Pontius Pilate was thrown into a small lake on the mountain.

May 31, 2006 Pilatus Aircraft Swiss business aircraft takes off in the US.
Starting off with just two Pilatus aircraft and a handful of employees, the company decided to change flight routes in the northwest by introducing direct service into communities.
The morning shows will also include a demonstration by Van Nuys pilot Clay Lacy, flying a Swiss-designed Pilatus Turbo Porter that can take off in less than 300 feet.
