Pillersdorf, Franz

Born Mar. 1, 1768, in Briinn, now Brno; died Feb. 22, 1862, in Vienna. Austrian state figure.

During the revolution of 1848–49 in Austria, Pillersdorf served as minister of internal affairs (March to May 1848) and chief of state (May to July 1848). The government was composed of members of the aristocracy and the liberal bourgeoisie. Pillersdorf was the principal author of the antidemocratic constitution promulgated in April 1848. He was forced to resign as a result of the growing revolutionary movement in Austria.
