Pilot Mountain State Park Location: 24 miles north of Winston-Salem off US 52. Facilities: 49 campsites without hookups, showers, 1 primitive group camp, 2 canoe campsites, picnic area, picnic shelters, canoe ramps, trails. Activities: Camping, river fishing, canoeing, hiking, horseback riding, rock climbing, cultural history programs, nature programs. Special Features: Pilot Mountain's prominent Big Pinnacle, with walls of bare rock and a rounded top covered by vegetation, rises 1,400 feet above the valley floor. The 165-mile Yadkin River Canoe Trail includes a two-mile portion of the Yadkin River that flows through the park and is one of the most scenic stretches along the river's course.
