Pil’tanlor

a lake in Tiumen’ Oblast, RSFSR, located in the heart of the Surgut Lowland. Area, 98.8 sq km. The shores are low-lying. Joined by a channel with the Minchimkina River (Ob’ River basin), the lake is fed primarily by snow. It freezes in late October, and the ice breaks up in late May. Near Lake Pil’tanlor is the Bystryi oil deposit, part of the Surgut oil and gas field.
