Cockaponset State Forest Location: 3 miles west of Chester on Route 148, in Haddam. Facilities: Youth group camping area, pit toilets. Special Features: Named after an Algonquin chief who's buried in the Ponset section of Haddam, Cockaponset is the second largest state forest in Connecticut.
