Pine Mountain State Resort Park Location: 1 mile south of Pineville on US 25E or 10 miles north of Middlesboro, KY. Facilities: 30-room lodge, 20 cottages, 120-seat dining room, swimming pool (@di; for overnight guests only), 18-hole golf course, picnic shelters, playgrounds, restrooms, hiking trails (14 miles), bike trail, miniature golf course, a natural forest cove transformed into a 2,000-seat amphitheater (Laurel Cove), meeting rooms, gift shop. Activities: Camping, swimming, hiking, bicycling, golfing, interpretive programs. Special Features: Established in 1924, Kentucky's first state park is a mountaintop resort overlooking the Kentucky Ridge State Forest. The park's 18-hole championship golf course, Wasioto Winds, was ranked as one of the best new affordable public courses in the nation by Golf Digest. A collection of 180 prints by wildlife artist Ray Harm are on permanent display throughout the lodge, dining room, and convention center.
